Internal & External Network Penetration Testing

Internal and external network security assessment and penetration testing

What we test

Scope of testing.

  • External: internet-facing hosts, firewalls, VPNs, mail and DNS, exposed ports, weak services
  • Internal: segmentation, weak credentials, unpatched systems, insecure protocols, lateral movement
  • Wireless / Device: Wi-Fi security, rogue access points, network devices, IoT, printers
  • Port scanning, fingerprinting, validation, password attacks, misconfiguration review, privilege escalation
Process

Mapped to the five phases.

The same discipline applies across every discipline we test.

  1. 01

    Scoping

Define assets, rules of engagement, timelines and testing type (black / grey / white box).

  2. 02

    Discovery

Reconnaissance, enumeration, threat modelling and attack surface mapping.

  3. 03

    Testing

Vulnerability identification and controlled exploitation to confirm impact.

  4. 04

    Reporting

Findings with CVSS scoring, evidence, business impact and remediation steps.

  5. 05

    Re-test

Verification of fixes and issuance of a closure report.

FAQ

Network: common questions.

Straight answers on scope, method and deliverables.

Do you test internal, external or both?

Either or both. External testing targets internet-facing hosts, firewalls, VPNs, mail and DNS. Internal testing covers segmentation, weak credentials, insecure protocols and lateral movement — wireless and device testing can be added.

What does an internal network test look like?

We start from an agreed position — typically a standard user machine, sometimes with no credentials — and work toward high-value systems, documenting every meaningful step, its evidence and the business impact.

How is impact controlled during network testing?

Exploitation is deliberate and limited: impact is validated without disrupting services, and password attacks or risky probes run in windows agreed with your team.
