Penetration Testing / API Security

API Penetration Testing

Advanced security testing for APIs to safeguard your applications from exploitation.

What we test

Scope of testing.

  • BOLA / BFLA
  • Broken authentication, JWT / OAuth weaknesses and mass assignment
  • Excessive data exposure, rate-limiting gaps and improper inventory management
  • Input validation, injection and unsafe third-party API consumption
Process

Mapped to the five phases.

The same discipline applies across every discipline we test.

  1. 01

    Scoping

Define assets, rules of engagement, timelines and testing type (black / grey / white box).

  2. 02

    Discovery

Reconnaissance, enumeration, threat modelling and attack surface mapping.

  3. 03

    Testing

Vulnerability identification and controlled exploitation to confirm impact.

  4. 04

    Reporting

Findings with CVSS scoring, evidence, business impact and remediation steps.

  5. 05

    Re-test

Verification of fixes and issuance of a closure report.

FAQ

API Security: common questions.

Straight answers on scope, method and deliverables.

Which API styles do you test?

REST, GraphQL and other common API styles — including authentication and authorisation flows (JWT, OAuth), object-level and function-level access control, rate limiting and input validation.

Do you test against the OWASP API Top 10?

Yes. Broken object level authorisation (BOLA), broken authentication, excessive data exposure and the rest of the OWASP API Security Top 10 are core to every API engagement.

Can you test third-party integrations?

Yes. How your application consumes third-party APIs — token handling, data exposure and error handling — is included in scope, since those boundaries are commonly where trust breaks.
