Mobile Application Testing

Security assessment of mobile applications across iOS and Android platforms

What we test

Scope of testing.

  • Insecure data storage, hard-coded secrets and weak cryptography
  • Reverse engineering, code tampering and binary protection
  • SSL pinning, root/jailbreak detection and runtime manipulation
  • Insecure communication, deep links, exported components and IPC
Process

Mapped to the five phases.

The same discipline applies across every discipline we test.

  1. 01

    Scoping

Define assets, rules of engagement, timelines and testing type (black / grey / white box).

  2. 02

    Discovery

Reconnaissance, enumeration, threat modelling and attack surface mapping.

  3. 03

    Testing

Vulnerability identification and controlled exploitation to confirm impact.

  4. 04

    Reporting

Findings with CVSS scoring, evidence, business impact and remediation steps.

  5. 05

    Re-test

Verification of fixes and issuance of a closure report.

FAQ

Mobile Application: common questions.

Straight answers on scope, method and deliverables.

Do you test both Android and iOS?

Yes. Both platforms are covered, including platform-specific protections such as keystore and keychain usage, root and jailbreak detection, code signing and anti-tampering controls.

Do you test the app's backend as well?

The assessment covers the mobile client and its communications. Backend APIs can be included in the same engagement or tested separately as an API security assessment.

What standards apply to mobile testing?

Testing follows OWASP MASVS and the Mobile Application Security Testing Guide, using reverse engineering and runtime manipulation with tools such as Frida, Objection and MobSF.
